A welcome from the Chair
Dear 918 families,
On behalf of the Squadron Sponsoring Committee, welcome to the 2026–2027 training year! Whether your family is returning or joining 918 Griffon RCACS for the first time, I am delighted to have you with us.
Thank you for taking part in re-enrollment and new cadet registration. We had a couple of technical glitches as we introduced our new system, but your patience and participation helped the process go very well. It was wonderful to welcome so many families and begin another year together.
The cadet program is strengthened by the families and volunteers who support it. As Chair, I look forward to getting to know you, hearing your questions, and working together to make this a rewarding year for our cadets. Here are a few opportunities to connect and get involved.
Please join us for Parent Night
Our Parents Meet & Greet is a free event with complimentary food and beverages. Join us on Wednesday, September 23, 2026, at 6:30 p.m. upstairs at The Canadian Brewhouse in Harvest Hills, 1200–9650 Harvest Hills Blvd N, Calgary.
We will have time to meet one another, welcome new families, and share more about the program and the Squadron Sponsoring Committee’s plans for the year. We also hope to hold a 50/50 draw, subject to receiving the required licensing approval before the event.
Tickets are limited. Please reserve your place by Saturday, September 19, at 6:00 p.m. MDT (Calgary time), or before the remaining tickets are claimed.

Our first volunteer opportunities are open
There are several ways to lend a hand, meet other parents, and support the squadron. Please create your Sponsor Committee Tools account, or sign in to your existing account, to access the signups. When booking, choose the family member who will be participating.
Wednesday Canteen
We need three parents on scheduled Wednesday parade nights, beginning September 30, from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. Please leave at least one Wednesday off between your shifts so other families have a chance to participate. Each completed shift counts as one season volunteer spot. A waitlist place earns credit only if you move into a regular spot and complete the shift.
Flight Simulator Support and Training
Learn how to support our flight simulator at LHQ, Good Shepherd Moravian Church, on October 5 or October 19. Sessions run from 7:00–7:45 p.m. and 8:00–8:45 p.m., with five parents per session. Choose just one session. No aviation expertise is needed; confidence with computer settings and a willingness to learn are helpful. Completing the training counts as one season volunteer spot.

Five Star Bingo
Morning volunteer opportunities run from November through May at Five Star Bingo, 4980 25 St SE. The next date is November 7. Each completed shift counts as one season volunteer spot. Please check your role and arrival time when booking; if you later cannot attend, you are responsible for arranging a replacement.
A simpler way to stay connected
A Sponsor Committee Tools account brings useful information together: volunteer bookings in My signups, event tickets in your Wallet, and your linked family’s registration invoices and payment information. Eligible tickets can also be added to Apple Wallet or Google Wallet.
If you have not created an account, open the Member profile link in an email from the committee, verify your email using the code provided, and choose Create an account. Use the same email address already associated with your member record so we can connect your information. Each person needs their own email address. If you already have an account, simply sign in or use the password-reset option.
